Waves of Purple

Big Sur, California

I captured this photo in the spring of 2013, during a superbloom in Big Sur. The flowers were in full bloom along the Pacific Coast Highway, creating a breathtaking sea of purple that I couldn't resist photographing.

My love for the California Coast runs deep. In my early years of photography, one of my favorite activities was to hop in my car and drive up the coast all the way to Oregon, capturing the stunning landscapes along the way. The Pacific Coast Highway, with its dramatic cliffs and endless ocean views, always offered incredible photographic opportunities.

Stumbling upon this vast expanse of vibrant purple flowers was a rare and captivating experience. The sight of these blooms stretching endlessly was mesmerizing, almost surreal. It's not every day you encounter such a magnificent display of nature's beauty. Capturing this scene felt like preserving a fleeting moment in time, a glimpse of the extraordinary that nature occasionally bestows upon us. The sheer density and uniformity of the flowers created a living tapestry, a natural masterpiece that spoke to the heart and soul.
