Wandering through the streets of Amersfoort in the Netherlands, I felt like I had stepped back in time. This particular evening, I was on a mission to capture a medieval ambiance, and the small towns of the Netherlands seemed to be the perfect canvas. My journey led me to this alleyway, where the historic charm surrounds you.

As the day transitioned to night, my vision was to create an image when the sky still held a hint of blue, perfectly contrasting with the warm glow of the streetlights. This alleyway, which I discovered while heading towards the iconic church tower in the background, felt like a hidden gem. The soft light spilling from the windows, the neatly lined cobblestones, and the bicycles resting against the walls painted a serene and inviting picture.

Standing there, with the historic tower looming in the background and the bells chiming softly, I was transported to another era. The weight of history in Amersfoort is tangible, with its medieval roots dating back to the 13th century. This very spot, with its picturesque surroundings, whispered stories of centuries gone by. The architecture, unchanged over the years, told tales of a bustling medieval market town that had gracefully aged into the tranquil place I now found myself in.

I had visited this location several times, drawn by its small-town charm and timeless streets. Each visit offered a new perspective, a new corner to explore, but this alleyway was special. It was as if I had stumbled upon a scene straight out of a video game or a painting, with every element— from the orange lighting to the stone path and the wooden shutters—coming together in perfect harmony.
