When choosing a new release its never a simple process. I typically take an average of 1,000-2,000 images of the same subject over the course of a few days. Some images can take a couple hours and some years. This image took roughy ten years to capture. I was told early on in my career when you find a location, capture it with your heart. I never really understood what that meant until I spent some time alone in nature. Sometimes I get to a location and it literally takes my breath away. This is one of those experiences. I had been to this waterfall plenty of times but on this day the colors were perfectly balanced. There were yellows with greens, the water had a good flow to it, there were clouds in the sky. I spent hours shooting photos and prepared for sunset. I’ve heard as you get more advanced in your career you’ll know you’ve captured it before you develop it. This was that moment for me. I watched the sun melt into the clouds and I saw my masterpiece manifest through my lens. I say this over and over again but there really is nothing like capturing an image you’ve been hunting down. It’s places like this that inspired me to start taking photos. This is my “Mona Lisa” and I hope you enjoy as much as I did capturing it.
