St. George, Grenada

In 2011, filled with youthful curiosity and a spirit of adventure, I found myself exploring the rugged and charming landscapes of Grenada. The journey was more challenging than anticipated, but the island, with its hidden treasures and welcoming locals, offered experiences that were profoundly rewarding.

Venturing off the well-trodden tourist paths, I navigated through an unknown dirt road, seeking a unique vantage point to capture the island's coastal beauty. The road ended at a local residence, where the view I sought was obscured by houses. However, fortune smiled upon me when a kind-hearted Grenadian woman allowed me access through her home to her backyard, which opened up directly to a breathtaking view of the beach.

The gateway, slightly worn yet standing resolute, serves as a perfect foreground, inviting one’s eyes to wander through its opening. Beyond the gate, the sandy shores subtly meet the calm, embracing waters of the ocean. The sky, painted with soft strokes of colors, enriches the scene, adding depth and warmth to the composition. The contrasting textures of the rough, weathered wood of the gate and the soft, smooth surface of the sea create a harmonious balance, enhancing the overall appeal of the image.
